Music Director, Producer, Tenor, Baritone, Soprano Countertenor, and Arranger

Tim Salaver is a versatile multi-part vocalist, director, producer, and arranger whose career spans classical, opera, and musical theater. As the founder and producer of the Areté Singers Network, he connects talented and experienced singers to events across the San Francisco Bay Area. Tim’s Areté Singers made their Carnegie Hall debut in June 2025, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey. A baritone with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Tim performed on their 1996 Grammy-winning recording of Johannes Brahms’ A German Requiem. He is the Chorus Manager and Bass Section Lead for the Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra and Chorus – Benicia Chapter, and baritone with the University of California Alumni Chorus. He was the Staff Singer and Baritone Section Lead at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church and Tenor Section Lead at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. His operatic credits include ensemble performances in Livermore Valley Opera’s productions of Don Pasquale and Eugene Onegin.

Tim’s leadership roles include Chorus Manager for the Pacific Chamber Orchestra and Chorus Master for the national tours of Symphony for Our World and The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, where he showcased his vocal range singing tenor and alto. He has performed as tenor and bass with ensembles such as Grace Presbyterian Church, St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Parish Choir, Lacuna Arts, Tactus, Schola Cantorum, and cathedral choirs at St. Mary’s of the Assumption and Christ the Light, as well as the John Knox Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. As producer of Encore Vocalists, he created performance opportunities for the ensemble, and he served as Bass Section Lead for the Menlo Park Chorus.  As a music arranger, Tim’s works have been performed by Areté Singers, Mistletoe Carolers, Gilroy High School, UC Alumni Chorus, and Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

His performance highlights include performing with the New York Choral Society in 2014 for Andrea Bocelli’s Christmas Tour at Madison Square Garden and on PBS for Lincoln Center Presents: The Richard Tucker Foundation Gala and singing with San Francisco’s Volti in 2015 for the Auction Napa Valley Flash Mob and Festival del Sole Chorus, where he performed the world premiere of Gordon Getty’s Five Choral Works and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Russian National Orchestra. That year, he also collaborated with Emily Johnson in Shore in Yelamu (San Francisco), an interactive multi-day street play and dance collaborative.

In 2019, he joined the San Francisco and San Jose productions of Hymn: Sarah Brightman in Concert. As a soloist (bass, tenor, and countertenor), he has performed with Pacific Masterworks Chorus, Los Robles Master Chorale, Fresno Community Chorus, Menlo Park Chorus, and the University of California Alumni Chorus. On stage, Tim has appeared as Ito in Mame (Contra Costa Musical Theater), Luntha in The King and I (Pleasanton Playhouse), Saint George in The Reluctant Dragon (Cal State University Fresno), and in Godspell and Wonderful Town.

As a director, Tim helmed Morts pour la France, a William Byron Webster opera production set during World War II and the Revolutionary War. His choirs have graced iconic venues, including the White House, U.S. Congress, National Cathedral, Kennedy Center, National Gallery of Art, Disneyland, and stadiums for the San Francisco 49ers, Giants, Oakland Athletics, and Golden State Warriors. His ensembles have been featured on radio, television, and the United Way-sponsored Christmas recording Faces of the Season. Tim has written, directed, and produced two musicals and over 300 performances throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

A co-founder of the Pacific Masterworks Chorus (now Chorus Eclectic), Tim sang with the Barbershop Harmony Society’s award-winning Voices in Harmony under Dr. Greg Lyne and helped transform the Society’s Valley Harmony Singers with Laura Pallas. He also performed with Pacific Coast Harmony and collaborated with renowned groups like Volti (Robert Geary), Los Robles Master Chorale (Leslie Leighton), Colorado Chorale (Dr. Frank Eychaner), Fresno Community Chorus (Dr. Anna Hamre), San Francisco Concert Chorale (John Emory Bush), San Francisco Choral Society (Magen Solomon), and University of California Alumni Chorus (Mark Sumner). Tim has sung under legendary conductors, including Seiji Ozawa, Herbert Blomstedt, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gustavo Dudamel, Andre Previn, Mstislav Rostropovich, Vance George, Ragnar Bohlin, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Ian Robertson, Dr. John Alexander, and Howard Swan.

Tim’s musical journey began as a boy soprano with the San Francisco Boys Chorus, performing on their first international tour to Romania as a U.S. Friendship Ambassador and in San Francisco Opera and Symphony productions. He was a 15-year member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He holds a B.S. in Information Systems and an MBA (Executive Program) from Golden Gate University.
